Limited availability of this ultra high end road shoe make it one of the most desired shoes on the market.
The Edge3 is a unique combination of technical highlights, cutting-edge design and performance orientated shoes with the needed comfort.
The core of our shoes is the unique Ergo 360° cycling last, which is so specific and unique that this is our actual footprint.
The stiff outsole ensures that the power gets transferred onto the pedals.
The upper construction is a supple and comfortable micro fiber, which allows the foot to breathe and reduces hotspots.
The specific cycling foot beds are from Solestar which ensure stability, power transfer and comfort.
First I bought the gray shoes and I liked the fit so much I purchased them in white. This i a beautifully constructed shoe and as comfortable as a shoe can be. It has a wide toe box and the heel cup is deep so your foot always stays in the shoe with no slippage no matter how hard you are pulling on the pedals.
This is a hard-to-find show and amazingly well-made. Quality is top-notch. The Suplest carbon shield over the top of the wraparound tongue keeps the BOA cable pressure spread nicely across the top of your foot without any hotspots (so far at least and I'm prone to them). The wraparound internal tongue isn't really a tongue - it's the entire outer half of the shoe - coming around your foot snugly without being too tight (unless you want it to be). The two Bi-directional Boas work well as always, with well-aligned offset cable routes on the opposite side of the shoe.
Really stiff 3-hole drilled carbon sole and a decent amount of bumper protection at the heel and a little less sole protection at the toe.
The heel cup is firm with good feel, with what feels like durable, grippy material lining it (ala Northwave "cat fiber") - with added silicone grippers. Just the right amount of grab around your heel to keep you in place under harder efforts too.
Shoe volume is generous without being excessive (read: "orthotics fit well, with the shoe still closely smoothly, comfortably and completely, with the wrap-around tongue still aligned at the center of your ankle). It fits really well with the stock insoles too. That's usually not possible for me but itis this time. Toe box isn't as roomy as some but I'd call it medium compared to other shoes that are truly "narrow". Seems like the shoe would be comfortable and able to adapt to your foot regardless of volume.
Stock insoles are hardly "stock", better than most by a long shot, with 3/4 length reinforced arch and heel liner - fiberglass (I think). Very nicely done.
You still get what you pay for now and then and this is one of those times. One of the best shoes, if not the best, I've ever tried (and I've tried many: Sidi, Northwave, Shimano, Lake, Fizik, Specialized, Gaerne, Giro, Carnac).
Pricey - Yes. Arguably much nicer than other brands at the same price level or more though.
And GLORY CYCLES' SERVICE IS AMAZING as always!!!
Extremely pleased with this shoe. Was on the fence between other similar shoes, and took a chance on these. The shoe is much more comfortable than my old Sidi Kaos, and looks even better in person than they do online. The sole is super stiff, and the carbon on top of the shoe really distributes the tension from the BOA laces. The toe box is somewhat narrow looking, but I have plenty of room being a middle of the road in width. I would buy this shoe over and over again!
