Pinarello developed the Gan GR-s to open up possibilities for those who date take their passion off-road. The Gan GR-S has tire clearance up to 38mm with thru axles, flat mount calipers and a rear elastomer. Using the same technologies as the Dogma K8S, the bike developed with Team Sky on the streets of Paris-Roubaix.

First of all, we defined geometries that allow great comfort to the rider, especially on bumpy roads and long distances.
Then, on the rear, our engineers used the "Flexstays" technology, with a flat and wide section to have a high absorption of vibrations in the vertical plane and torsional stiffness. In addition, on GAN GRS, the monostay has been replaced by DSS1.0, the elastomeric suspension developed for Dogma K8S, allowing 10 mm stroke.

Considering the terms of use, which may include slippery and muddy roads, the wheel clearance has been widened to fit tires up to 38 mm (or 32 mm tires with mudguards). Furthermore, the disk brakes uses Shimano ThruAxle pins (12 x 100 mm on the front and 12 x 142 mm on the back), to obtain the optimum braking power and traction on any terrain.

Aerodynamics was also considered, since the main triangle uses similar airfoils of Dogma F8.

Flat mount calipers, thru axles front and rear

Lightweight carbon frame and aero features make it fast and smooth on the road with 28mm tire while the larger tire clearance (up to 38mm) makes it perfect to long days on gravel.

The GAN GRS is a gravel race bike ideal for the long and rolling days

Posted by Peloton Magazine on 11th Mar 2019

“Who’s this joker on the road bike? Looks fit, but a Pinarello? At a gravel race?!” That’s what we thought at mile 5 of the 2017 Gravel Worlds when we saw a guy on a black Pinarello cruising up the left side to the front of the peloton. At mile 40, when the “joker” on the Pinarello attacked, the supersonic shockwaves of his acceleration detonated in the peloton and he and his Pinarello imposed their will on the event. Less than eight hours later, Colin Strickland would be crowned gravel world champ—and, somewhat later, after we crossed the finish line we went looking for that Pinarello.

It wasn’t just any Pinarello; it was the new GAN GR, a gravel bike based on the original GAN, a race bike with a slightly less aggressive personality than the Dogma. We’ve been dying to throw a leg over the bike since we saw Strickland motor to worlds victory. Our chance came this spring, but it wasn’t just the GAN GR, it was the GAN GRS Disc, which adds Pinarello’s Dogma Suspension System 1.0 to the new gravel platform.
